Tame Impala - Innerspeaker

Man, you have to respect the genius of Kevin Parker. Multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter and even record producer. Kevin became obsessed with music already as a child, spending evenings alone in his room figuring out beautiful melodies and putting them down on tape. He has, since the beginning of Tame Impala, always written everything himself, and also plays all of the instruments in the album recordings, which he produces himself. For live performances he got a group of very talented musicians, but actually the talent is all him.

Tame Impala sounds like The Beatles' psychedelic era just with more... psychedelics. Their debut album is filled with catchy hooks and otherwordly guitar sounds. Sometimes you are not sure if a piece is played by a synth or a guitar, or a mixture of both. For people who like guitar pedals and effects, you will love this band.

Also the lyrics are great. I especially like the solipsistic "Solitude is Bliss":

"Space around me where my soul can breathe
I've got body that my mind can leave
Nothing else matters, I don't care what I miss
Company's okay, solitude is bliss"

The album can't really be found on streaming sites, but here's a Youtube playlist.
